Who murdered the rich young war widow? Pug Potter, Kingsport man-about-town and self-taught smart guy becomes involved in a mysterious crime that puzzles the authorities, and includes hijacked whiskey, gambling, illegal liquor hauling and avaricious greed and jealousy, all in the peaceful and proper settings of the Tri City area. If you enjoy mystery and who-dun-it yarns, you will treasure this based-on-fact fiction story from the late 1940s.
Pete Dykes' created character, Pug Potter, tells amusing, hilarious, sometimes tragic stories of the Kingsport folks in the 1930s. You won't find these in any other history, for many such scams and scandals have been blotted out of memory and forgotten.
On the beautiful autumn day of October 4, 1960, the air around Kingsport Tennessee was suddenly rent with horrific explosions that shook the entire town with shock waves and multiple after-bursts. The 3 year old Aniline had blown up, setting off multiple other explosions from chemical storage tanks nearby. Death and destruction was immediately the order of the day at the huge industrial complex and for the entire community, in what was to be called Tennessee's worst industrial accident.
